Ilvaite

CaFe3O(Si2O7)(OH)4

This sample of ilvaite is displayed in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. Ilvaite is a silicate mineral with the composition CaFe3O(Si2O7)(OH)4. The sample at left is about 10 cm across and is from Seriphos Island, Cyclades, Greece.

This pair of ilvaite samples is from Laxey mine, South Mountain, Idaho. The larger sample is about 8 cm across.

This sample is ilvaite with quartz and is from Dalnegorsk, Primorskiy Kray, Russia. It is about 15 x 25 cm.
