Graftonite

(Fe,Mn,Ca)3(PO4)2

This sample of graftonite is displayed in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. Graftonite is a phosphate mineral of iron, manganese and calcium with the composition (Fe,Mn,Ca)3(PO4)2. The sample at left is about 15 cm wide and is from Ruggles mine, Grafton, New Hampshire.
